WTO Fish Fund approves USD 2.9m in first grants

During its meeting on 18 and 19 November 2025, the WTO Fish Fund Steering Committee approved 26 project grant requests to support developing and least developed country Members in implementing the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies.
The approved applications are listed below.
- PPG/14 Colombia: "First Approach to the Implementation of the Fisheries Subsidies Agreement in Colombia."
- PPG/24 Saint Lucia: "Needs Assessment and Capacity-Building Support for the Implementation of the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies in Saint Lucia."
- PPG/29 Gabon: "Situation de référence et Perspectives en vue d'une mise en oeuvre efficace de l'accord de l'OMC sur les subventions à la pêche au Gabon."
- PPG/31 Haiti: " Diagnostic des carences et des outils appropriés pour la lutte contre la pêche illicite, non déclarée et non règlementée en Haïti."
- PPG/39 Comoros: "Evaluation des besoins pour la mise en œuvre de l’Accord sur les subventions à la pêche."
- PPG/41 Oman: "Needs Assessment for Strengthening Oman’s Fisheries Management and Compliance with WTO Fisheries Subsidies Agreement."
- PPG/42 Kenya: "WTO Agreement of Fisheries Subsidies Support Project."
- PPG/49 Uruguay: "Bases para la construction participativa del Plan Nacional para el Desarrollo de la Pesca en Uruguay."
- PPG/53 Tonga: "World Trade Organization Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies ‘Need Assessment Study on the Kingdom of Tonga’s Readiness to implement the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies’."
